making a liar...

Lovely and clear afternoon photograph shows jet-run exhaust trail as seen from Winter Street in Bradford PA, looking north toward Allegany State Park.

Today's by-mail stuffed envelope from Sweepstakes Clearinghouse features yet another full-color one-page description of the "Road Runner (R) XRT (R) 360...with Safety Radar Detection" that is "Invisible to police Radar Detector "detectors""...used by police to find radar detectors without VG-2 protection.  ...  provides...Maximum Protection  against  Both Radar and Laser speed guns from any direction... .  ...could even SAVE YOUR LIFE!...can alert you to hazardous conditions ahead... ."  Apparently the implication is that the speed guns can adversely affect engine function so that police won't be saving anyone's life alongside the highways, but drivers can save their own lives when alerted to hazardous conditions.

Yesterday's Bradford Era newspaper, page six, describes 'Bradford Lions Sight Conservation Trust Fund to sell bulbs, brooms, garbage bags', "...Proceeds will be used to purchase eyeglasses for the financially needy in the Bradford area.  ..."  What' s inappropriately funny about this is that years pinned in school and workplace seating (as well as in vehicles) ensures that people often cannot look voluntarily outside room windows to focus on 'real world' activities, and the remedy for the nearsighted/other eyesight conditions that result are  --  you can guess it!  --  more but up-close and more personal glass.
